BIKE HIRE extra per session - £10

Please note that there are 2 options of 2 days each (Tues, Wed & Thu, Fri), however super-keen kids can do 3 or 4 sessions if they want extra practice and time on the bike :)  The only requirement is that in order to do one of the longer sessions (3 hrs) kids need to have done a preceding 2 hr session during the week or attended one of the other skills sessions at Bike Beans.

We have a general itinerary, shown below, which we have left flexible enough to respond to the varying ages and abilities of the participants on each individual session.

We will run two sessions each day to accommodate the younger (6-10) and older age groups (11+). We will ensure that all children learn skills within their reach, to help them feel motivated and encouraged. The focus is primarily on skills and technique rather than stamina, although we want them to have some excitement exploring the area on their bikes too :)

In terms of routes, all courses start and finish at Bike Beans Cycle Cafe.  We ride up Crampshaw Lane, just up from Bike Beans off Rectory Lane, and head onto Stanes St bridleway, which gives us access to further bridleways heading out towards Langley Vale and Epsom Downs, or Headley, Mickleham Box Hill direction.  There are two ideal skills areas that we like to use (in addition to using the general trail); one at the first junction of Stanes St (nr Thirty Acre Barn junction), the other on Headley Common.

We will leave Bike Beans promptly at 10am, so please ensure that you are there early so we can maximise our session.

Day 1, 10-12pm
•   Kit & bike checks, bike sizing, general off-road etiquette and safety brief
•   Beginner skills at Thirty Acre Barn junction: focus on the basics e.g. cornering/controlled braking/group spacing/line choice etc
•   Assess overall group ability (fitness & skills) for those attending the following session(s)
•   A short ride of the local area to bed-in these skills
•   Aim: teach skills that keep riders safer on trails

Day 2, 10-1pm
•   Further bike handling / skills practice
•   Longer ride - a culmination and continuation of the previous days activities
